Awesome. Thanks for your help. :-)
Hey Howdy Hey, y’all! Long time, no post. I’ve been busy ^^; But, today I had a day off and I’ve been working on a few things. But, at the moment, I need a little help.
The other day, I got some printouts for bookmarks/charms of the Calico Princes. In particular, I noticed that in printed form, Palm’s features become a little difficult to see around his mouth because his muzzle is dark. If he’s not smiling or, in general, if his mouth is closed, it’s hard to register what he’s doing. …plus, it looks like a beard, but that’s kind of cute. ^^; Anyhoo, on a…shall we say…whim, I decided to play around with Palm’s facial markings to see what he would look like with a bit of a change. #1 is his original look, but #2 and #3 are modified.
SO! …here’s where I need your help. Do you think I should stick with the original, or modify him to one of the other looks? A little about Palm, he’s quirky, but brilliant and a natural prankster. Also, he’s one of the few cats who actually wears glasses when reading.
Umm…I think that’s about all. Thanks a bunch! ^_^
Alright! Finally getting back into the groove of things. These are the three princes of Calico; Alder, Arjuna and Palm. They’re triplets with mere minutes separating them at birth. They…don’t resemble each other too much, but, that’s just how cat siblings are, sometimes. ^^; Anyway, Alder is the oldest, Arjuna came 18 minutes later and then Palm came 33 minutes after him…making him the baby ^_^
OH! One other thing, Arjuna hasn’t any head hair not because he cuts it, but rather, he simply doesn’t grow any. It’s genetics. His aunt was the same way. He only has fur.
Sketching, trying to get into the mood to work on a commission. Anyway, this is Alder, First Prince of Calico.
…darn. Well, I was working on a commission that included Sugar and…I messed up on the scale, just a little bit ^^; So, I had to scrap it and start it again. But, since Sugar came out pretty well, I finished penciling her and just scanned her in. So, this was how she turned out.
Ah well, back to the drawing board…literally ^^;
…well, I finally got around to coloring this. I’ve been practicing coloring all day, trying to find the best method of rendering a children’s book. I played with an older picture of Mari and think I’ve settled upon the method that I’m going to use. It’s close to this, but just a bit smoother. I need to keep working and practicing to get it right, though. With time…with time…
Anyway, I’ll keep at it. In the meantime, I hope you like this colored pic of Sweetheart and Boomer. …there’s still a story here and I need to write it out ;-)
Well, I’m back from Miami and had swimming on my mind (being right next to the beach). So, here is Sugar enjoying a swim.
…something is weighing heavily on the prince’s mind…but what could it be? He’s being secretive about it, but whatever it is, I’m sure Calico’s Crowned Prince will bounce back from it, as he usually does.
This was a commission at FA:U. The commissioner had a theme and it was homemade. …he also had a preference for cats so…I pretty much got to do anything as long as it stuck to the theme. So, I worked with kitten Boomer and kitten Sweetheart.
The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach…or so she had been told. So, with that in mind, Sweetheart decided to make something sweet for the fella she was sweet on. Boomer, for his part, was spending the afternoon making a fishing rod so he could learn the trade from his father. He didn’t quite know what to think when he saw Sweetheart approaching him with what he could only assume was food. ^^;
…well, when I was frantically working on Sweet Shoppe #2 and was quickly running out of time, I started to work on the Princes of Calico. I had drawn all three boys as kittens, but only Arjuna was ever shown as an adult. So, I needed to work on the other two, Alder (the Crowned Prince) and Palm (the Third Prince). As the first to emerge from the womb, it’s Alder who will someday inherit the throne. Arjuna and Palm are still princes, but will never see the full power of the monarch title unless something happens to Alder (and we pray nothing will).
Anyway, Alder favors his mother, Avalon, in appearance. He rather looks like a male version of her. Palm, on the other hand, favors his father, Artemis. They both have the mottled, spotty markings. …Palm also has a permanent 5 o’clock shadow. …I…haven’t drawn Artemis, yet, so I don’t know if this is something he has as well. I guess we’ll see.
These are primary sketches of the two princes, but they’re reasonably close to what I want them to look like
